Deja Vu Restaurant and Espresso Cafe has been a family owned eatery since 1995. They are voted locally as #1 for the best place for breakfast in Redding.
Located downtown in a historic hotel this restaurant has a vintage feel to it. It’s an excellent breakfast spot with great tasting coffee and a wide selection on the menu.
They serve breakfast, lunch, and specialty coffees. Just make sure you come hungry because the portions are very large! If you are a light eater you might even want to split a meal.
You can expect a traditional american style breakfast. They are known to have the best eggs benedict in town. People also rave about their french toast and cinnamon rolls.
Since this is such a popular spot for locals to eat breakfast and brunch, it gets busy, especially on the weekends. I would try to visit during the weekdays, unless you are prepared for a long wait.
Open until 2 p.m. daily, I suggest you get there before 9 a.m. because after 9 you can expect a 20-30 minute wait. There is a coffee shop inside their restaurant where you can wait to be seated.
There is a large parking lot across the street, but since it’s in downtown Redding you will have to pay to park. ($1.00 / hr).
At Deja Vu, you’ll find great food, a vintage atmosphere, and a wide selection of breakfast menu items to start your day off right.

Jeff’s California Cattle Company is another local favorite for a good service and a great breakfast.
Open until 3 p.m. daily, it’s conveniently located not too far from I-5. The menu includes breakfast and lunch, but most people visit for their great tasting breakfast.
Visitor favorites include their popular chicken fried steak, omelets, country potatoes, and pancakes.
I have been to Jeff’s for breakfast many times and I have never been disappointed. Not only do they have good food, but you get a sized portion for a great price.
They have been open since 1993 and while the restaurant isn’t that big, it has plenty of parking. It can get busy on the weekends, but wait times never seem to be too long.
Inside, there is a country style decor with a fun model train that circles the restaurant near the ceiling. Kids love watching the train!
From the western decor, to the good old fashion breakfast and welcoming atmosphere this is a top go-to breakfast spot when in Redding.

It’s also right next to the railroad tracks. The kids love it when a train goes by!

If you’re looking for that home-cooked made to order mom and pop type place to eat, then you should head over to Rita’s Kitchen.
This tiny little place has about 4-5 tables, so the seating is limited, but if you are willing to wait then the food is worth it. Rita’s Kitchen is truly a hidden gem with a happy atmosphere and fresh food.
While the restaurant may be small, you can expect a homemade breakfast right off the grill. They are known to have amazing omelets and the best biscuits and gravy around. Also, don’t forget to try their corned beef hash, it’s another customer favorite.
Locally owned and operated, this fun little spot has recently switched to new owners, and I have heard they might be changing the name to Tie Dye Cafe. I have only heard great things about the ownership under the new owners.
This small and cozy restaurant with friendly owners and great service is just the place to go for a great breakfast.

The food tastes great, you will never have to wait too long even when it’s busy, and the staff are all super friendly.
It has been a local favorite for many years, and is one of the best places in town for breakfast.

This cozy little restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall off Hilltop. Inside, they have great food, a hometown atmosphere, and even a small play area for the kids.
They have many devoted locals that agree that this is one of the top places for breakfast in Redding. Even many visitors say this place feels like home!
Open daily until 2 p.m. it’s one of the only restaurants in Redding where they bake all their bread, biscuits, and pasties fresh daily.
This is also one of the few places that offer sourdough pancakes and scrapple in the area. Many say the food is cooked to perfection with perfectly grilled hash browns and crispy bacon.
Special dietary requests are always welcome and they also have fun mickey shaped pancakes for the kids.
Popular menu items include the fresh California omelet, the french toast, and sourdough blueberry pancakes with fresh lemon sauce.
You’ll also want to be sure and try the huge cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting, baked from scratch, it is a customer favorite!

At Black Bear Diner you will find log cabin style decor that features a bear themed environment to relax and enjoy a yummy breakfast.
From the moment you walk up you will see bear carvings, to fun bear themed decor all around the restaurant.
I have visited Black Bear Diner many times, and have always been happy with the service and food.
You can expect a family homestyle dining environment with a menu that includes classic homestyle comfort food.
It’s also a fun place to bring the kids. They bring crayon and a coloring sheet to your table, and the kids menu portions are surprisingly large. My kids love the Mini Volcano meal.
They are known for having amazing chicken fried steak, but they also have great pancakes, omelets, and really good orange juice.
This is also a great place to go if you want breakfast later in the day, as they serve breakfast all day long!
Lumberjacks

Part of a small chain of franchise restaurants, they serve large delicous meals at decent prices.
It’s where the big boys eat! The concept of the restaurant, is offering country style home cooked meals that will fill anyone up.
The restaurant is located just off I-5, it’s not hard to miss as they have a huge lumberjack statue that is as tall as the building. Kids love seeing the large lumber jack, and it’s fun for taking photos.
Inside the atmospher is like you are in a long cabin. They have some great specials, friedly staff, and classic country syle cooking that will leave you ready to start the day.
This place is popular with locals and visitors. I have been here many times and have always enjoyed my breakfast.
